Washing Machine Parts
Whirlpool, Amana, KitchenAid, LG, Electrolux, Samsung, Frigidaire, Bosch, GE, Maytag, Hotpoint, Kenmore/Sears, and White Westinghouse are just some of the washing machine manufacturers marketed in the United States. We can help you find parts for famous brand washing machines and for machines from lesser known brands.
Though there are a number of different washing machine manufacturers, there are two basic types of washing machines: top loading and front loading. The parts of a washing machine are pretty standard: power supply, drain hose, water supply hoses, water inlet valve, controls and monitors, lid switch, lid, drum, agitator, motor, leveling feet, and the water pump.
Washing Machine Parts
The power supply refers to the plug and power chord where the washing machine connects to the wall. Washing machine plugs can become frayed or loose over time, necessitating replacement. The drain hose is the hose that takes the water from the washing machine to the drain, either via a standpipe or through a sink. There are generally two water supply hoses and they bring water, hot or cold, into the washing machine from the main water supply. The water inlet valve controls the flow of water into the washing machine and is located between the exterior walls of the washing machine and the drum of the washer. The controls and monitors are on the back of a top loading machine or the front of a front loading machine. They allow a person to select the desired wash cycle.
The lid switch prevents the washer from running when the lid is lifted, and, if it is defective, can prevent the washing machine from running. The lid is self-explanatory and closes to keep clothing in the washing machine. With front-loading machines, there is no lid, but there is a door. The drum is the circular tub in the middle of the washer, where the clothes are loaded. The agitator is the piece that rises from the center of the washing machine and moves the clothes in the drum. The leveling feet are on the bottom of the machine and can be adjusted to keep it level. Finally, the water pump controls the drainage of water from the washer.
